what to expect in therapy

 

First time in therapy?

Therapy can sound pretty daunting! Often times people don't know what to expect coming into my office. 

Prior to your appointment

You will be asked to complete paperwork online prior to your session. This will allow me to review your information and prepare for your session better. I do not have physical paperwork, therefore, it is important that you complete the paperwork online. Otherwise, we would need to reschedule your appointment.

During the first appointment

All you have to do is be yourself! There's a reason why you're coming into see me and chances are you're probably bothered by something that you want to get off your chest. It is also completely normal to be anxious! Most of my clients are anxious when they are seeing me for the very first time!

Just like you would want to tell a friend about what's going on, picture therapy as a way for you to talk about what's going on in a safe and confidential space. On top of that, I've been equipped with skills and knowledge to help you through the challenge that you are facing.

One thing to keep in mind is that part of the therapy process involves being honest and vulnerable, which can be terrifying. Please know that any information you share with me will help me understand your issue better and how to help you best.

If you're nervous, please tell me about it! I like my clients to feel safe and comfortable when talking to me, so I'll do my best to make it as safe and comfortable as I can for you.
